I can't imagine a candidate matching my outlook on things better than Newt Gingrich. I can't imagine a better representative for conservatism than him, either. In the past, Newt has denied that he was going to run, but that means he is seriously considering it.
I think he is playing chess with the parties. For some reason, we now have a two year election cycle instead of one and the field is already crowded. Of course, most of them will be distant memories in about six months. Newt has made the statement that the country will be bored by summer with those who are already campaigning. Is it possible that he is waiting for that to happen, and then will jump in and provide fresh material?
I hope so. I already pledge my vote to the Gingrich ticket if he runs.

I believe what Newt is doing is waiting for the hub-bub of all of these candidates announcing SO early to pass which should drop off by late spring. Then a lull will fall as the electorate is already tiring of to much too early. Newt then will announce in mid to late fall which will give him momentum and a distinct advantage because of the newness of his candidacy for the early primaries in Jan and Feb 08. Then he will place all the others in CHECK!
