It wasn't pretty for my Tigers last night, but an ugly win is still a win. Kansas State didn't come to Auburn to play ball, they came to win. Auburn is a difficult place to do that, but K State pulled it off for about 56 minutes.
Auburn is a young team. We lost all of our recievers, half of our defense, and our starting tailback was suspended for the game. Add to that the three defensive starters who were out of the game at some point because of injuries and you have a recipe for a bad night. K State whipped our tails for 56 minutes, but in vintage Auburn fashion we found a way to pull it off. With about six minutes left we finally did what had not been done all night and got some pressure on the K State QB. A couple of those hard rushes, topped with a Groves sack and K State punted. We went down the field and with about two and a half minutes scored our first TD of the night. After the kickoff we hit the QB who fumbled, and ran it into the end zone. An interception with about 45 seconds remaining sealed the deal.
I breathed a huge sigh of relief about 1030 last night. This is going to be a long year.
