Football kicks off tonight, and what better game to show on ESPN than an SEC game featuring one of the pre-season favorites for the National Title.
LSU vs. Mississippi State. Won't be the best game of the year, but it is the first! Unfortunately for my SEC football addiction I have to go to cub scouts tonight. But, Auburn is on ESPN saturday night at 6:45 CST. Start the season right. Be there or be square...

Back from Cub Scouts where I will now be a den leader. Will do another post soon about that. Now attached to my chair in front of a relatively boring ball game. At halftime it was LSU 17, Miss State 0. About what I expected, but Miss State started to give this one away early. I was hoping for a first night upset to take some pressure off of Auburn. UPDATE while I am updating: LSU 24, Miss State 0. My better half will now be changing the channel.

For some reason, I don't get into college football too much. Now pro is a different story. Although I have a bad feeling about their season this year. (Eagles)

Pro football is nothing but a bunch of spoiled rotten little babies who cry because they only got a $20 million contract instead of a $30 million contract. The NFL has ruined the game with the stupid attempt at parity, and a team such as the 1972 Dolphins will never be seen again.
But it is nice to see a woman who partakes in football. My wife likes Auburn, but she actually said to me "How do you watch this all day, week after week? It is just basically the same game over and over".
And this from woman who watches chick flicks. Girl meets boy, boy goofs up, girl meets another boy, first boy tries to get her back, second boy is humiliated, girl and boy hold hands and everything is rainbows and puppies.
She wouldn't know a west coast offense from a Yugo. But in all fairness, the LSU train was gaining steam and it was all but over.
LOL! I am a major tomboy. I actually like baseball and hockey better, but still a football fan. Won't watch basketball to save my life though.
I know what you mean about the athletes now a days. They start dancing when they get a touchdown. Last I heard that was part of their job. Next time I make my kid lunch, I'm gonna do a little food dance! They are cocky and arrogant, and it does get harder and harder to watch.
I find less of that in hockey, maybe that why I enjoy it so much. Or maybe it just the fights and the checking?? LOL

My opinion is that there hasn't been pro basketball in several decades. My idea of pro sports is people who excell and put their hearts into a game to learn it and be as proficient as possible. People who take it as an insult to lose.
Basketball is an incredible game and can be played as maserfully as a ballet or chess match. Today's players are only professionals in the sense that they get paid to do it. Really just a bunch of thugs.
