But Liberalism Isn't Evil...

One of the reasons that conservatives have a hard time is our refusal to fight back. They call us greedy and selfish and all the other claptrap that they espouse about our beliefs, and we never take a stand and fight. We have to change this. Liberalism is evil and dangerous to the American way of life. Allow me to present another grand example of the left-wing nuttiness that people allow to prevail. Keep in mind that this story is about children one to about five years of age:

Banning LEGOs

Teachers at a Seattle day care center decided to ban LEGO building blocks — those colorful little bricks kids use to build such creations as robots, monster trucks, space ships and vast futuristic cities. The Hilltop Children's Center bills itself as a nationally recognized, non-profit, non-religious facility. So why did the teachers toss the LEGOs?

We'll let them explain: "We agreed that we want to take part in shaping the children's understandings from a perspective of social justice. So we decided to take the LEGOs out of the classroom. The children were building their assumptions about ownership and the social power it conveys — assumptions that mirrored those of a class-based, capitalist society — a society that we teachers believe to be unjust and oppressive."

After months of what the teachers called "social justice exploration" — they let the LEGOs back in — but kids were only allowed to build "public structures" of standard sizes in a village dedicated to what they called "collectivity and consensus."

So, parents are allowing their children to be raised by people who believe that capitalism is evil, winning is bad, accumulating wealth is distasteful, and ownership of property is a social injustice. They believe capitalism is oppressive.

It might not be so oppressive if you didn't spend your entire life in day care and actually tried to succeed. Don't misunderstand me, my children spent 2 years each in daycare. However, we interviewed 3 places before we decided on a learning center that spent their time teaching my kids about letters and colors and days of the week and sharing their toys. Sharing of toys is far different than teaching that owning toys is unjust. The majority of the teachers at their day care were education students from local universities, one of the a grad student working her way through school.

My only fault with Legos is that they hurt when I step on them on the dark stairs in the morning......

Pray they don't figure out those Lincoln Logs have the same name as the President who suspended haebus corpus. Not that they understand the concept or impact of history or its real relavance.

LOL Obob....We have Lincoln Logs in my house, too! The only thing they understand about history is from the Vietname era. Apparently everything before and since then has been evil. It was from about 1962 through 1978 that we experienced enlightenment.
