The War on Terror Continues

I am sure you have heard this story before visiting this page, so I won't recap it except to say that this is more proof that the GWOT is a necessity.

The left will certainly say that it is more proof that we should leave Iraq and concentrate at home. My take is that this story is huge, precisely because we have expanded the perimeter of the GWOT, and it is a rare story. If it were happening regularly, no one would be surprised.

This is not the time to cut and run

Hello Robert.

My two cents on this? Some people are up in arms about this, saying that no terrorist would be working in Liberty City, it is not like Peshwar, Pakistan, there is no al-Qaeda in Florida, etc, etc, etc. There are no Arabs in Florida, blah, blah, blah.

Well, first of all, this has nothing to do with Arabs, IMHO. This has to do with islamic jihadists. And I have read plenty of articles about homegrown people turning to terror here in the U.S once they become radicalized. So I can see a crew of islamic jihadists growing here in Liberty city.

Second, I have heard plenty of people say that our war in Iraq is radicalizing these people. You know what? They may be right. In fact, they probably are. And you know what else? I don't care. Plenty of things in this world get me all hot under the collar, but you don't see me plotting to blow up the Sears Tower or the Brooklynn Bridge because of it.

When we invaded Panama in 89, did that give any Panamanian-Americans the right to start bombing U.S. cities? No.

Same with WWI and WWII. Did that give the German-Americans the right to start bombing U.S. cities, or spying for the Nazis? No.

Bottom line, just because you are upset with your nations foreign policy, that doesn't mean you can start trying to blow it up.

BTW, I'm not kidding, some people are saying that this is all a plot by Bush and Co to intimidate black voters so they can steal another election.

Heck, people can bash Bush and conservatives all they want and it really doesn't bother me. But at least don't sound like you've been skipping your anti-psychotic medication when you do so.

Well, at least we arrested them prior to the attack.

Very respectfully,

TM

TM, there is alot of absurd commentary, usually used to fill in a lack of argument, that we are making them hate us, and making them more radical.

I guess flying planes full of people into buildings full of people is ratinale and civil discourse? How about the al-Aqsa Martrys Brigade using teenaged girls as suicide bombs? First, how bad to you have to make someone angry to do something like that? Secondly, why is it always our fault? We take and take and take, and as soon as we respond in strngth, it somehow is our fault that they hate us. Why can't people see that there is evil in the world,. and set aside their own guilt for (fill in the blank) and deal with it?
